Spring 2012 Trend Report

Spring 2012 Trend Report As the snow melts away, it’s time to know how to greet spring through fashion! Below are the trends emerging on the runways that you will want to try for the spring season! 1. THE COLORS: WHITE AND LIGHT Although the white snow is disappearing, don’t say goodbye to the color just yet. Where floral prints usually dominate, the color white is prevalent on the runways from the collection of Chanel to Givenchy to Jil Sanders. WHY YOU SHOULD TRY THIS: This trend can actually lessen your visual weight and give you a sense of clean, sophisticated look. So if you are aiming for that kind of image the color white all over your ensemble will be your best friend for the season! If you are not into white, then go for other light shades of color like these pastels that dominated the Alexander McQueen and Louis Vuitton shows. WHY YOU SHOULD TRY THIS: Winter is all about the sparkle of the Holidays or the glisten of the white snow. As these melt away, give your eyes (and others!) a rest with soothing pastels. This actually adds the visual softness and fragility to your image. 2. THE COMMON DENOMINATOR: THE KNEE-LENGTH SKIRT This skirt type has been showcased in many runway shows for Spring 2012, specifically Burberry Prorsum and Prada. Try them on in different colors, textures and styles! WHY YOU SHOULD TRY THIS: Your legs have enjoyed the benefits of being covered all winter. Time to raise your skirt’s length above the knee! Not only is this liberating for your slender femme fatales, but it also add a touch of demure sophistication for your part. Great for girls who are not big into flashing their flesh all the time. 3. THE PRINTS: FLORAL OR STRIPES Just when we thought we can escape the usual expectations of having flowers in spring, this trend has dominated the runway as well, either in full blast or in just touches. See what Adam, Balmain and Betsey Johnson did for this trend! WHY YOU SHOULD TRY THIS: This is great for channeling the inner girl-next-door look and adding a little flirt and fun in your image. For the non-floral loving femmes, well there is another trend that you may find interesting. It’s the hint of stripe! This is seen prevalent in the runways of BCBG Max Azaria and Proenza Schouler. WHY YOU SHOULD TRY THIS: That one line across your body that can actually be used todraw attention to your assets or away from those that you are not confident about. This is also great for the ladies that are in love with their black colors. Try and add a pop of color through wearing stripes! 4. THE SHOES: ANKLE STRAPPED HEELS Stow your winter boots away ladies! It is not time for you to allow your feet to breathe and accentuate your calves with the spring 2012 trend of ANKLE STRAPPED HEELS. This trend is prevalent on the runway shows of the fashion prodigal son (he went to Paris for 1 year), Zac Posen and the prestigious fashion line, Sacai. WHY YOU SHOULD TRY THIS: Ankle strap heels are great for those who are confident about their calves. It also adds a sense of “easy style” in your part. It is also good to note that the height of the heels has gone down. So give yourself some rest from the torturous stilettos. So here are the trends for you to try.
